Today I'm very excited to announce my new hobby project: Heresy Era Iron Warriors! I picked up a copy of Betrayal at Calth a while ago, and with the recent release of Burning of Prospero and the growing popularity of 30k in my area, I've finally decided to take the plunge and collect a small force of Legiones Astartes.

Time for my 1500 pts Imperial Knights list's final battle of the tournament. Round three saw me facing a very nicely converted and painted Thousand Sons list that were taking advantage of their brand-new rules for the first time. The mission was a straightforward as it gets: good old Seize Ground.

Round two! After being annihilated by Tau in round one, my second game saw my 1500 pts Imperial Knights list matched against a Necron Decurion in a progressively-scored table quarters mission.

Alright, you've seen my 1500 pts Imperial Knights list, now it's time for some battle reports. The first round of the tournament saw me matched up against Tau in a progressive-scoring missions with predetermined pseudo-Maelstrom Objectives.

As the end of the year approaches, I have received an invitation to the annual championship tournament in my area. It is a 1500 pts event with minimal list restrictions (just no Unbound) but using a custom set of not particularly well-designed missions. I have decided to take a triple-Knight list with a handful of Astra Militarum in support; here is how I have designed my list.

Hi everyone, today Elite 40,000 ticked over the 400,000 page view milestone after just over two years. I know that's not a big deal for most of the internet, but for a personal hobby blog I'm amazed at how wide its readership has grown.

I hope to have more time for blogging over the holiday season and I'm keen to hear from you about what sort of content you'd most like to see. Please leave a comment or email me at elite40k@hotmail.com and tell me what you want.

Alright, time for round two! After my Astra Militarum performed well against Ravenwing but lost the mathematically-unwinnable mission, I was matched against another aggressive marine list, this time of the Blood Angel variety.

I recently took my Astra Militarum to a three-round, 1500 pts casual event. The event organisers had requested that players bring moderate-strength lists only, so I built a full 1500 pts of Astra without a Knight; and it seems like great minds think alike, because there were no Knights to be seen at the event and more Astra lists than I had ever seen before!

The Eldar Harlequin range has some very sexy models, that are sadly rarely seen in competitive play. Will their new datasheets in Death Masque change that?

Speculation continues about the nature and timing of the next (8th) Edition of the 40k ruleset. I have no better idea than anyone else when the new rules will emerge, or what they will look like, but if I could change just two things then this is what I would do.

Death from the Skies has been out for a while now, and unless you've been living under a rock or are one of those regressive ITC-playing Luddites, you've adapted to Air Superiority and the nerfing of flyers as swiss-army-knife anti-everything shooters. But Forge World flyers were notably absent from DTFS—until today!

By now we've all seen the draft FAQ and Death From the Skies, and started to get a feel for what "7.5th Ed" 40k is going to look like. Let's take a look at how the changes are going to affect one specific Faction close to my heart: the Astra Militarum.

If GW asking for community input to a FAQ was surprising, GW asking for community review of the draft is simply amazing! Let's make the most of this opportunity to consider these proposed rules changes and provide useful feedback.

I recently attended a small invitational tournament with an unusual format: each player had to bring both a 1000 pts and 2000 pts army list with the same Primary Faction, and each game was a three-player battle with a single 2000 pts player battling two 1000 pts players. Read on for the first of three battle reports for this event.

A blight is spreading through the 40k community. The game has never been better, new minis are amazing, and the storyline might even be advancing—but too many 40k players are willingly forsaking their hobby freedom to join the mindless drone legions of The Rules Meddlers. Can we stop the rot?

In response to my review of the new Astra Militarum content in War Zone Damocles (now also published in its own digital-only supplement), I was asked how I would build a list using the Cadian Battle Group Detachment and an 'Armour and Artillery' theme. I started sketching out a few list ideas, and quickly realised how challenging it would be to much such a list competitively viable. Can it be done? Read on to see.
