WIP: Converted Cataphractii Character #1

Here is my conversion of the Cataphractii Praetor model from the Betrayal at Calth box.

This was a fairly straightforward conversion as it really only involved replacing the arms and re-positioning the head. However, the way that the pteurges (dangling leather straps) are sculpted on this kit's shoulder pads made the arm-swaps a four hour job to get it looking right. From what I've read online from others who have converted this mini, they seem to have just hacked away the pteurges to swap the arms, then re-sculpted the pteurges in greenstuff. I didn't want to do this since the original sculpt is so good, but the careful approach took a lot of time.

I didn't actually change the original equipment of this model—combi-melta and chainfist—since I want this model to be usable as the Iron Warriors unique character Erasamus Golg. But I really did not like the pose of the original sculpt, so I used arms from the plastic Cataphractii kit to give it a more heroic pose.

This will probably be my last post for this year, but I hope to start posting some WIP shots of painted Terminators in January.
